30- Apr. The Nervos ICO provides an infrastructure-based path to scalability for dApps that holds great potential for its decoupled, blockchain-agnostic design. While the project is still in the early stages of product development and community building, the team behind Nervos are seasoned blockchain veterans who have founded and contributed to foundational projects in the space.

What I like:

  • The Nervos Architect, Jan Xie is a contributing member to Ethereum Casper and founder of Cryptape, a Chinese blockchain company that notably has Vitalik on its advisory board, and which provides a lot of engineers to the Nervos team. This leads me to believe the team has the ability to execute
  • There are a lot of notable crypto funds mentioned as investors on the project’s website, so this means the project is virtually completely funded already
  • Cell owners can cover for the cost of their dApps which means models such as Freemium are possible on Nervos

What I dislike:

  • Although the project has been around for a while, there is still very little information available, which the team says is due to deliver
  • According to the newly released roadmap, an early alpha version will be available in Q3 2018 and main net Q2/Q3 2019, which is a long wait
  • The token is used to pay for storing dApp data on the network is a smart model for Nervos, but a weak incentive adoption for miners, until dApp adoption comes to Nervos

Overall, I am on the fence about it. I like the competent team and the proposed architecture, aka public chain + multiple customizable shards called individual blockchains, which is getting traction in the blockchain space. I, however, dislike that the actual project is relatively slow and very little GitHub action can be seen. The project does have a lot of potentials especially because of the team, this one remains on the watchlist.
