Tezos
[XTZ]

Tezos is a self-upgradable, open-source Layer 1 blockchain specifically developed for the creation and hosting of decentralized applications.

Tezos is a smart contract platform utilized for issuing digital assets and developing decentralized applications. It gained recognition as one of the pioneers in implementing a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus algorithm instead of the traditional Proof-of-Work (PoW) algorithm employed by Bitcoin. While other projects such as Solana and Cardano have also adopted PoS, and Ethereum is transitioning to PoS, Tezos remains committed to advancing various aspects of its platform.

Tezos is decentralized and community-driven, thanks to its open-source nature. In 2017, the Tezos Foundation was established to provide support to the community after the launch of its native XTZ token. The foundation oversees the development of the platform and strives for its long-term success. With the collaboration of the community and the assistance of the Tezos Foundation, Tezos has evolved into a distinct blockchain that shares similarities with other PoS blockchains but operates differently.
