The game features a futuristic sci-fi setting where players explore, engage in combat, manage resources, and participate in a metaverse economy. ATLAS serves as the primary medium of exchange within the Star Atlas ecosystem, used for purchasing ships, crew, components, land, and other digital assets. It also acts as a reward token for in-game activities such as exploration, crafting, and missions.
The ATLAS token is inflationary by design, with its supply growing in line with the expansion of the in-game economy to ensure sufficient liquidity for new players and ongoing economic interactions. The Star Atlas DAO governs ATLAS’s minting, burning, and distribution, allowing the community to influence the token’s economic policies. This dual-token system pairs ATLAS with POLIS, the governance token, which controls project development and treasury management.
