Gelato (GEL) is a decentralized network token that powers the Gelato protocol, a Web3 automation platform enabling developers to automate smart contract executions using bots. The protocol serves as a modular DevOps service for blockchain projects, allowing them to outsource transaction automation and relaying without building custom bots. Gelato supports multiple EVM-compatible chains such as Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, and BSC, facilitating seamless automation across ecosystems.
GEL is both the native utility and governance token of the Gelato network. Token holders participate in the Gelato DAO, voting on proposals that shape protocol parameters including network fees, developer incentives, and the behavior of executor bots. Bot operators must stake GEL to reserve execution slots, incentivizing good behavior and ensuring reliable service. Staking GEL also provides earning opportunities from transaction fees and arbitrage activities. The token’s supply is managed by the Gelato Treasury, with a possibility of minting additional tokens subject to governance approval.
