Balancer is a DeFi protocol on Ethereum that enables users to create and join liquidity pools with multiple tokens in any ratio.
Balancer is a DeFi protocol that has transformed the landscape by introducing multi-token pools. In addition to the conventional setup with two tokens per pool, Balancer offers liquidity pools that accommodate multiple coins, with up to eight tokens in standard pools and even up to 50 tokens in Managed Pools. This unique approach allows liquidity providers to earn yield from a pool that resembles a diversified multi-asset fund, such as an index fund or mutual fund.
When a Balancer pool is initially created, the token ratios within the pool are established. As users engage in trades, the pool undergoes a process called rebalancing. When tokens are exchanged, they are deducted from the pool, and the ratios of the remaining assets within the pool are adjusted to ensure that each token maintains its proportional value relative to the other tokens.
Pool creators have the flexibility to set the fee charged for extracting liquidity from their pool, which can range from 0.0001% to 10%. This fee is distributed among the liquidity providers, incentivizing their participation and rewarding them for their contribution.
