Visa reportedly in late-stage talks to buy Fireblocks for $2.5B

Fireblocks, the custody and stablecoin infrastructure firm founded in 2018, is reportedly close to a sale to Visa. The talks are in a late stage, and the deal would be Visa's first acquisition in the stablecoin sector.

The reported price of about $2.5 billion is less than a third of the $8 billion valuation Fireblocks reached in its $550 million Series E round in January 2022.

Fireblocks provides custody, tokenization and settlement infrastructure to more than 2,500 institutions, including Worldpay and Euronet. Both companies already take part in the Open Standard stablecoin initiative, and former Visa executive Vasant Prabhu joined Fireblocks in January 2025.

Nothing has been signed yet. A completed deal would give Visa its own technology for moving and holding digital assets as institutional demand for stablecoins grows.
