TAC, an EVM network connected to TON, said it was exploited for about $7.5 million through a vulnerability in the Cosmos EVM module, and validators halted the chain to contain the damage.

According to TAC, the attacker withdrew roughly 3 billion TAC from an escrow account with no increase in total token supply, effectively conjuring balances out of thin air before the network was stopped. The team says it is working with validators on a restart, but the conditions for resuming block production have not been finalized.

The bug is not unique to TAC. The same Cosmos EVM module flaw, tied to incorrect state handling during nested EVM execution, also hit MANTRA Chain days earlier and cost the Saga network around $7 million back in January, making it one of the year's most repeated infrastructure exploits.

TAC has had a rough security year: in May its TON bridge was drained of about $2.8 million in a separate incident later settled as a white-hat case, adding pressure on the young network as it goes dark again.
