Ondo now lets approved institutions mint Ondo Stocks directly from shares they already hold, using Alpaca's Instant Tokenization Network.

To mint, an institution transfers underlying shares from its Alpaca account into Ondo's Alpaca account via an internal book transfer, and the matching Ondo Stocks tokens are issued on-chain. Redemption reverses the flow, returning the shares in exchange for the tokens.

By converting existing share inventory straight into on-chain supply, the in-kind route is designed to tighten spreads and deepen liquidity for Ondo Stocks across secondary markets.

Institutions can tokenize a portfolio with a single API call and no settlement delay, with the feature already live on Ethereum and BNB Chain, part of Ondo's push to build out on-chain access to US equities.
