HTX exits the UK and settles FCA lawsuit with promo pledge until 2031
The UK's Financial Conduct Authority took Huobi Global S.A., the operator of HTX, to court in October 2025 for breaking financial promotion rules after the exchange repeatedly failed to engage with the regulator. The case has now ended in a High Court settlement.
Under undertakings given to the High Court, Huobi Global will not knowingly promote crypto services unlawfully to UK consumers through its website, apps or social media. The pledge runs until October 21, 2031. The terms are confidential, and the company did not admit liability or wrongdoing.
HTX is no longer active in the UK: consumers can no longer make deposits, and new UK users cannot sign up.
Steve Smart, the FCA's executive director of enforcement and market oversight, said crypto firms should be under no illusion that being based overseas puts them beyond the reach of UK law.
