Binance files for Brazil crypto license, delists 22 tokens for local users

Brazil's central bank set October 30 as the deadline for existing crypto providers to apply under its new rules, and Binance has filed its license application ahead of it. An on-time filing lets the exchange keep operating while the regulator reviews the request.

From October 27, Brazilian users lose access to 8 products and 22 tokens, including USDE, USTC, MANTRA, GMT and ZIL.

The restricted services include Loans, Margin, Launchpool, Megadrop, HODLer Airdrops, Cloud Mining, Binance Pool and Alpha 2.0. Loans move to repayment-only, while margin and other affected products switch to reduce-only. Token balances stay safe and can be withdrawn, and the delisting applies only to Brazil.

Binance is moving Brazilian clients to two locally licensed entities, with custody kept offshore in Abu Dhabi. The changes follow central bank Resolutions 519, 520 and 521, which set new rules on who may hold, lend and move crypto for Brazilian residents.
