Base Launches Coinbase Tokenized Stocks via B20 Standard
Base has launched Coinbase-issued tokenized stocks natively on the network, giving eligible non-US users access to 1:1-backed fractional shares through self-custody wallets.
The tokenized stocks use the new B20 standard, extending ERC-20 to make equities transferable and composable across DeFi. Users can trade them 24/7, provide liquidity on Aerodrome, and use assets such as Apple and NVIDIA as collateral in protocols like Aave.
The shares are reportedly held 1:1 by Alpaca, a regulated broker and custodian operating through a bankruptcy-remote structure supervised by Abu Dhabi Global Market.
More Coinbase tokenized stocks are expected to launch in the coming weeks, with additional RWAs planned for Base.
