Fantom is a smart contract platform for decentralized applications (DApps) that utilizes a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) structure. Unlike traditional blockchains, DAG networks consist of vertices and edges, with crypto transactions represented as vertices stacked upon each other.

Fantom was developed to overcome the limitations of previous blockchain platforms, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, including lengthy transaction times. FTM is the native coin of the Fantom network, utilized for payments, governance, staking, fees, and safeguarding the network.
