Tron is a blockchain-based network, created by Justin Sun, running on delegated proof-of-stake (DPos) consensus mechanism. 

Tron enables developers to create decentralized applications (dApps) and execute smart contracts on its network. The platform was founded in 2017, and the Tron Foundation raised $70 million through its Initial Coin Offering (ICO) that same year. Tron is based on a delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism that allows for better network performance by allowing only selected node operators to participate in the network.

One of Tron's key features is its support for smart contracts written in various programming languages, such as Java and Python, which makes it easier for developers to create dApps on the platform. The network also hosts a variety of decentralized applications, including a decentralized exchange (PoloniDex), wallet, explorer, and DeFi applications such as JustLend and JustSwap.

Tron's own oracle solution, JustLink, enables developers to access off-chain data to create more sophisticated smart contracts, and its sidechain-based scaling solution helps to improve scalability on the network. Tron's focus on improving scalability and speed has made it a popular choice for dApp developers and users alike.
