Hey CryptoDifferers!

Tim GloverTim Glover

Hello everyone! Great to be here. Thanks for having us @mykocryptodiffer and the CryptoDiffer community!

Myko (CryptoDiffer)Myko (CryptoDiffer)

Welcome Tim and Jim, thank you for taking your time today!

Myko (CryptoDiffer)Myko (CryptoDiffer)

Our team has prepared 3 questions for you to start with
Can we start?

Jim JinJim Jin

sure let's do it

Myko (CryptoDiffer)Myko (CryptoDiffer)

okie
let's begin with th eintroduction
Q1: Can you introduce yourself to our community?

Jim JinJim Jin

Hi, everyone. My name is Jim Jin, cofounder of Chronicle. Coming from a software engineering background, I have been in the crypto/blockchain space since 2017. Over the years, I have involved in, invested, and advised a wide range of blockchain projects, including Canya, Thorchain, ShareRing, Soar, etc. I was the seed investor of Thorchain and an advisor to JRR Crypto which is the second largest shareholder of Binance, a business strategist for soar.earth which is a geospatial technology company currently undergoing an IPO. I also have founded a Singapore-based VC Aurumsy Ventures to invest in early stage disruptive tech companies. In late February 2021, I together with Tim Glover, co-founded Chronicle and started our journey in NFT.

Tim GloverTim Glover

My name is Tim Glover. I'm one of the Co-Founders of Chronicle.

My background is that in 2014-15 I worked on a digital immersive fan experience with film director Colin Trevorrow and Universal Pictures focussed on the Jurassic World movie. The purpose of fan experience was to create background story leading up to the film and its characters (Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, et al) and provide something for fans to interact with prior to the film's release.

Fast forward to a year later and the film did very well at the box office. I would then spend the next 2 years as a "Jurassic Consultant" for Universal Pictures alongside two very good friends - Jack Ewins and Manuel Bejarano (more on these two when we discuss the Chronicel team) - and was consulting on everything from the Jurassic World toyline, to the LEGO series, and more.

Fast forward again to 2017-18 and Universal Pictures brought us on again for another digital immersive fan experience, this time for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom where we replicated Claire Dearing's (Bryce Dallas Howard) Dinosaur Protection Group in an online fan campaign spread across a website and social media.

With this background of working with a world renouned film studio and beloved movie franchise, we see the opportunity to create a fan focused NFT platform called Chronicle.

Myko (CryptoDiffer)Myko (CryptoDiffer)

Woah!

Myko (CryptoDiffer)Myko (CryptoDiffer)

Thank you for the answers
Let's now talk about the project
Q2: Can you introduce Chronicle to us?

Tim GloverTim Glover

We're setting up Chronicle as a digital collectibles play built for fans. That is, we are building a platform where fans can directly buy, sell, trade, bid and gift officially licensed digital collectibles from their beloved brands.

Most importantly, after consultation with key studios and partners who we want to work closely with, we are building a platform that anyone can use. Blockchain technology sits on the backend, and on the front end is an easy to use platform with features like email address sign up, fiat USD onboarding, and more.

The point here is that we want anyone to be able to use Chronicle. We're building this for the millions of fans of beloved brands.

For this reason we're building Chronicle as a platform available on Web/Desktop and Smartphone (iOS/Android).

Jim JinJim Jin

fans come first! fans come first! fans come first! can't stress that enough haha

Tim GloverTim Glover

I should also add that we’re not just exclusive to film and television entertainment. Chronicle is all about bringing fans together. So whilst we are interested in film and tv, there’s also music, sports, celebrities, pop culture, and so on.

Myko (CryptoDiffer)Myko (CryptoDiffer)

Superb! That worth noticing)
We have one last question before moving to the community part
Q3: Let`s now talk about the milestones you have achieved so far and about your upcoming plans?

Jim JinJim Jin

In terms of finance, we have closed a 3.2 million round in Q2, which was covered exclusively by VentureBeats. This has given us a good start to put together a necessary team. Producet development side, we have completed the design in Q2 as well and the beta version of the product is under development and on track for an August beta launch. Tim will cover more about unclassified progresses of our IP development

Tim GloverTim Glover

Sure, happy to elaborate what we’re looking to get done in 2021, as well as highlight what has been done already.

📣 Q1
✅ We started with our Seed Round and Branding in Q1 which was well received. Some of those partners have now been announced as 4SV and Bella Protocol.
✅ We also made sure to get our website and social media up and running.

📣 Q2
✅ Private sale began (oversubscribed) and more partners onboarded.
✅ Chronicle staff and technical team onboarded.
✅ App development began.
✅ XNL smart contract developed and audited.
✅ PR ama_article coverage for Chronicle (VentureBeat, Cheddar TV, Deadline)

👀 Q3 (what's happening now)
- Launchpad platform confirmed (to be announced this month)
- Confirmed IP onboarded (to be announced this month) as Chronicle is set to launch with 4-6 IPs at launch.
- Chronicle formal release
Regarding the IPs we are launching with, we can confirm we are launching with world renowned brands and in a couple of cases we have exclusive licensing agreements.

These are a little under wraps for now but we can't wait to share these when the time comes!

Jim JinJim Jin

one more thing worth noting separately is that we are fortunate enough to have Doug Neil, former Universal Pictures VP, joining us as CMO on a full capacity, which is a terrific boost to Chronicle. This is covered by Deadline and IMDb officially

Superb! thanks for detailed answers!

Jim JinJim Jin

keen to get the screen rolling!

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

Since Chronicles Store accept USD, do you think an average user would want to hold $XNL token since it isn't compulsory on the marketplace? Shouldn't $XNL holder be giving preferential treatment or what distinguish an holder from a normal user purchasing collectibles with USD? I'd suggest the team should push out some limited ones that could only be purchased with $XNL token?

Jim JinJim Jin

I will take this one

Tim GloverTim Glover

Thanks Myko! Keen to get stuck into some of these

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

Do you have a chat group or website for this project? Where can we start learning something??

Tim GloverTim Glover

We do have a community!

Our website can be found here >> www.chronicle.io
Twitter >> https://twitter.com/ChronicleXNL
Telegram Community >> https://t.me/chroniclecommunity
Telegarm Announcements >> https://t.me/chronicleofficial

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Jim JinJim Jin

This is very good question! Yes, the acceptance of USD fiat payment was to lower the barrier to the mass fans given the majority of the fans of beloved brands are non-coiners with poor knowledge of how to use crypto and interact with a crypto wallet. However! We have designed the XNL utilities so that XNL holders can enjoy benefits and preferential rights in various circumstances, for example: early and exclusive access to NFT drops of different levels, preferential seats in auction under same pricing etc. These preferential rights will be 'crystalized' as NFTs also! A.K.A Chronicle Medals, which can also be circulating in the secondary market. But given the complexity of these utilities, we are looking at gradually incorporating them into the product as the platform develops.

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

Can any NFT be traded on Chronicle or only authenticated digital collectibles from the world’s greatest brands?

Tim GloverTim Glover

We're trying to create something a little different to other NFT platforms which are genreally more open and decentralised (i.e. anyone can create an NFT and list it).

Chronicle is focused on delivering officially licensed collectibles from beloved brands of the world across film, TV, animation, sports, music, pop culture, etc.

A part of the reason why we're able to have those conversations with beloved brands is that they know we're building a platform focused on their IP where their collectibles will be front and centre of the application.

For this reason, yes, Chronicle is for officially licensed content only. However, we're looking at ways to improve and involve fans further in our roadmap.

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

🟢 I could read on your website that users who have a certain amount of $XNL token will have access to special limited edition collectibles. Does this mean that only holders will have the possibility to acquire one of them?

Jim JinJim Jin

Yes, as what I have explained above, we will have designs like this to ensure XNL holder's preferential rights to incenticize the XNL ecosystem. Meanwhile this won't apply to all limited NFTs but just part of them.

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

✅ I was very interested that with Chronicle users will be able to buy, sell, trade, offer and give away authenticated licensed NFT directly from the world's leading brands. Can you please detail what brands you are referring to? If I tokenize my digital artwork what brands will my license be backed by?

Jim JinJim Jin

@chaos_timothy can take this one

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

I read on Medium, Chronicle is doing a development update, is Chronicle currently working or developing? and when is the estimated TGE Chronicle will take place?

Tim GloverTim Glover

Thanks Leyna. We were excited to push out our first Community Update a couple weeks ago. As that update mentioned, we've been working hard to develop the Chronicle platform. This means that Chronicle is still in development and we are targeting a release date (which will include officially licensed collectibles from real brands) sometime in early August.

We can confirm that a launchpad has been selected. More news on this very soon, but you can also expect an early August TGE.

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

On your website you talk about $XNL I will be able to get discounts on trade commissions, rewards and bonuses. Could you specify how much these discounts would be or what is your range?

Jim JinJim Jin

The numbers have yet to be determined but it will fall into the range of 0-30% ish. Also the discounts actually depend on what level of Chronicle Medal you are holding and using. Chronicle Medal can be earned by staking XNL. Staking different amount of XNLs for different periods of time will get you diffrent rarity of the Chronicle Medals

Tim GloverTim Glover

Hello Habibi. Thanks for your question.

We're specifically talking to brands that often fit the following criteria:
1. World-renowned and beloved
2. Family-friendly
3. Multi-generation (i.e. they've been established for more than two decades)

We'll be in a better position to announce some of these brands in the next few weeks. Suffice it so say that we think the whole crypto internet will sit up and take notice when we announce them 🙂

To confirm, Chronicle works with the brand IP owners to create the digital collectible cards. The actual artwork is designed by us and the studio before release.

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

Could you tell us a little bit about the features that the Chronicle application will have? I understand it will be in the third quarter, but do you have a definite date yet? And also, will it be available for everybody?

Tim GloverTim Glover

Chronicle is looking to differentiate itself from other NFT marketplaces by being fan focused. We're including the following features:

Fan friendly focus:
- no blockchain knowledge required
- easy email sign up
- USD onboarding via payment integration partners (e.g. credit card)

Device agnostic:
- Web desktop
- Smartphone apps (iOS and Android)

Comprehensive functionalities and features, which include:
- buy, sell, swap, bid and gift collectibles
- social media integration
- gamification of NFTs (various forms of NFT)
- various reward programs

And more is being developed as we speak. Stay tuned!

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

Did only licensed verified digital collections on display in the Chronicle market? How do we know that the digital works we purchase are official, verified and licensed?

Jim JinJim Jin

Chronicle Store will only sell officially licensed NFTs. This will be under the terms and conditions of the platform and constrained by legal contracts. We won't sell unlicensed NFTs because that concerns our legal and reputation. However, in the future, we will open other components of Chronicle in parallele to Chronicle Store which allows artists to mint, trade, buy and sell their own NFTs.

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

NFT projects usually require huge investment.
Who are your key partners helping for the development as well as funding the project?

Tim GloverTim Glover

Fun question! We've received investment from a number of key players in the crypto space (you can also find these VC logos on our Chronicle website).

A full list includes:

4SV, AU21 Capital, Aussie Capital, Bella Protocol, Bigcoin Capital, Blocksync Ventures, DAO Maker, GBV Capital, GravityX Capital, Legos Capital, Magnus Capital, Moonwhale Ventures, Node A-Team, Pluto Digital Assets, Three M Capital, Twin Apex Capital, VBC Group, Vysyn Capital, X21 Digital, ZBS Capital, and 499+ Block.

How many familiar names can you find? 👀

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

Hello.

Regarding about Chronicle I see that "Chronicle" is committed to providing eco-friendly NFT..
So can you tell us more about this..?

And what's the difference between your NFT and we know it will be eco-friendly and what won't..?

Tim GloverTim Glover

As a conscious decision we at looking to use climate neutral solutions (e.g. Proof of Stake) blockchain solutions for our digital collectibles.

We are also looking to partner with leading environmental organisations to raise awareness of the environment.

More on this to be announced in the future.

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

If I don’t get it wrong, Chronicle actually works like an agency for brands. Any different conditions than the way that big brands work with their agencies?

Jim JinJim Jin

Not exactly, Chronicle obviously INCLUDES similar functionalities of an agency for brands, but its main service is around the creative work and the store and marketplace for the brands to engage with their fans from a NFT aspect. On a side note, all agencies for brands during signing licences, the scopes of licenses vary a lot. NFT is a new concept and currently hasn't been explicitly defined in previous licenses. Thus even the licensing agency function, Chronicle still differentiates from other agencies

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

- I was detailing Chronicle's roadmap and I could notice that you have plans to develop your own mobile application. Can you give us a preview of this? Will it be available for all operating systems? What functionalities will it have incorporated?

Tim GloverTim Glover

A preview can be found in our latest Community Update but I'll share some details here.

It will be available on iOS and Android. Fans can also access Chronicle on Web/Desktop.

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

The NFT market largely consists of users who are pre-familiar with
cryptocurrency and the operational use of the blockchains they are hosted on. And millions of traditional users of physical collectibles are currently unable to access NFTs primarily due to some challenging
onboarding processes like purchasing cryptocurrencies on an exchange; required understanding of different blockchains; knowledge on how to set up a crypto wallet amongst others. What solutions have Chronicle provided for these problems?

Jim JinJim Jin

last one
in short, we have email registration and fiat onboarding and require zero knowledge of blockchain and crypto. The blockchain supporting Chronicle is hidden behind the scene just like any app that we are using is not stressing "internet"
@mykocryptodiffer Thanks Myko. I think we are done with this part.
So many good questions!

Tim GloverTim Glover

Wonderful questions!
