Ripple wins final OCC approval for its national trust bank
Ten months after a conditional nod in December 2025, Ripple has secured final OCC approval to charter Ripple National Trust Bank (RNTB), a federally supervised national trust bank.
RNTB will manage the segregated reserves behind Ripple USD (RLUSD), act as collateral trustee for RLUSD holders and offer fiduciary digital asset custody. RLUSD itself will still be issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, Ripple's NYDFS-regulated trust company, with BNY as primary reserve custodian.
RLUSD, launched in December 2024, has grown to a $2.5B market cap.
The charter adds federal supervision on top of state oversight for the stablecoin as the U.S. implements the framework set by the GENIUS Act.
