Microsoft, Alphabet, Goldman Sachs object to OKXICE, total hits 16
The issuer pushback against OKX and ICE's tokenized stock venue keeps growing: an updated OKXICE public notice dated Oct. 19 adds seven new objecting companies, including Microsoft, Alphabet and Goldman Sachs. Qualcomm, Caterpillar, McDonald's and Western Digital also joined the list.
The disclosed tally now stands at 16 issuers, up from nine a week earlier. Of the 62 companies on OKXICE's original roster, 15 have objected, leaving 47 without a disclosed objection.
Earlier objectors include Broadcom, Verizon, UnitedHealth, CoreWeave, AppLovin, Applied Digital, Rocket Lab and Applied Optoelectronics. Cerebras Systems also objected, though it was not on the original list. The notice does not give reasons or dates for the objections.
OKXICE, announced on Oct. 5, plans round-the-clock, stablecoin-settled trading of tokens backed one-for-one by shares, with dividend and voting rights. It seeks to operate under the SEC's five-year Innovation Exemption, which lets issuers block venues from offering tokenized versions of their stock, a mechanism that is now testing the framework's reach.
