Gate freezes two accounts tied to Binance hacker after $250K deposits

On-chain tracker Lookonchain flagged roughly $250,000 in deposits from wallets linked to the Binance attacker into Gate over a 12-hour window. Within hours, the exchange confirmed on X that it had identified and frozen the two related accounts.

Gate said the account details have entered its due diligence process and that it will fully cooperate with law enforcement and the ongoing investigation.

The frozen sum is a small fraction of the $6.3B drained from Binance, the largest crypto hack on record.

The FBI has attributed the attack to North Korea's TraderTraitor group, and US authorities say a large portion of the stolen funds is already frozen. Each exchange deposit by the attacker is a point where funds can be stopped before they are cashed out.
