The Dencun upgrade enhances Ethereum’s scalability via rollups, optimizes gas fees, improves the network’s security, and implements several housekeeping updates.

It will now take about a month or two for settlement contracts across all L2 networks to incorporate the update. Once they do, gas fees on L2 networks should immediately fall by 75%.
