The Dogecoin Foundation has backed a new independent company to build products around DOGE. Dogecoin Labs brings the ecosystem's main builders under one roof, led by CEO Jordan Jefferson, while the Foundation keeps ecosystem stewardship and open-source development.

The merger combines the MyDoge wallet (500,000+ users), the DogeOS application platform, whose EVM-compatible public testnet went live on Sept. 30, and Such App, a merchant payments product with invoicing and in-person QR payments built by House of Doge and Brag House.

Dogecoin Labs will target payments, commerce, DeFi, gaming and consumer apps to give DOGE utility beyond memes.

The launch follows weak traction for DOGE in traditional finance: Bitwise announced plans to close its Dogecoin ETF in September after failing to attract sustained investor demand.
