Binance.US reportedly applies for CFTC license to run prediction markets
In July, Binance.US CEO Stephen Gregory said the exchange would seek a Designated Contract Market (DCM) license from the CFTC. The exchange has now reportedly filed for US approval to offer prediction markets.
A DCM license would let Binance.US list futures, options and event contracts under CFTC oversight, adding a regulated business line on top of its spot crypto trading.
The exchange would enter a crowded field. Kalshi and Polymarket US already operate in the segment, Gemini secured its own CFTC license earlier this year, and Coinbase offers event contracts through a partnership with Kalshi.
The bid is part of a comeback push: Binance.US aims to regain the roughly 20% US exchange market share it held before regulatory pressure shrank its business.
