Binance replenishes 98% of hacked assets, expands PoR to 44 tokens
Less than a week after its record $6.3B security incident, Binance has now covered approximately 98% of the impacted amount from its own resources, up from 90% on October 31. The remaining tokens are still being bought through market and OTC channels.
Purchases for the last 2% are expected to be slower because those tokens are less liquid. The exchange says it has set aside more than 100% of the funds needed to cover the losses, so users do not bear the cost.
A new Proof of Reserves snapshot taken on November 4 at 00:00 UTC covers 44 tokens, up from 10 in the previous one.
Generating the full zero-knowledge proof is expected to take about 50 to 60 hours. Once it is ready, holders of any covered token will be able to independently verify that their balances are backed at least 1:1, while withdrawals keep reopening in phases.
