Launches Perpetual-Style Equity Index Futures
Coinbase Derivatives launches the first perpetual-style equity index futures available to US retail investors on June 8, 2026. The product allows crypto-native traders to go long or short on major macro themes and stock market sectors without opening a traditional brokerage account. Four thematic contracts launch initially: AI (artificial intelligence sector), China equities, defense sector, and top Nasdaq companies. The perpetual-style structure mirrors how crypto perps work — no expiry, continuous funding rate mechanism — bringing a familiar trading experience to equity index exposure.
