Ripple Gets Final OCC Approval for Its Trust Bank
The OCC gave Ripple final approval for Ripple National Trust Bank, 10 months after the conditional nod in December 2025. A federal bank, just not one that takes deposits.
As a trust bank, RNTB takes no deposits and makes no loans. It will manage the segregated reserves behind RLUSD, act as collateral trustee for holders and offer digital asset custody to enterprises. RLUSD (about $2.6B market cap) is still issued by Ripple's NYDFS-regulated trust company, with BNY as primary reserve custodian. The new charter adds federal supervision on top of the state license.
Next, RNTB starts operations while the US rolls out the GENIUS Act stablecoin rules. Ripple counts more than 85 licenses worldwide.
