Utah sued Kalshi on Oct 20, along with two Susquehanna firms, calling the platform a "back-alley gambling den." The complaint estimates Kalshi made up to $61.2M in fees from Utah users.

That makes 20 states that have sent cease-and-desist letters, filed lawsuits or criminal charges vs Kalshi. Ten of them in 2026 alone.

Courts have already forced Kalshi to block markets in Nevada, Michigan and Washington, where fines can reach $500K a day.

Tribes are suing too: three California rancherias, the Ho-Chunk Nation in Wisconsin, and the Mescalero Apache in New Mexico.
