let's start with introductory questions
Q1: Can you introduce yourself to our community?

Nicole NguyenNicole Nguyen

Thanks for having me today. My name is Nicole and I have been in the blockchain space since 2016 and my most recent job is Head of International Marketing at Tokocrypto - the largest exchange of Indonesia and the company behind TKO token - the 19th project launched on Binance launchpad.
I am currently the CMO and Co-founder of Duelist King. I've been enjoying this crazy ride with another awesome 20 members across the globe and hope to share a thing or two with you about Duelist King today šŸ˜„

Thanks for the answer!
Now second one
Q2: Can you introduce Duelist Kings to us?

Nicole NguyenNicole Nguyen

Our slogan "Democratizing NFT card game" manifests our own vision - bringing democracy to NFT card games by engaging the community like never before!
Our community extends beyond gamers - we invite creators, artists, collectors and investors to participate in our DAO-governing model as stakeholders, decision makers and voters for how the game play and game design look like.
This is faciliated through our own in house infrastructure including the DAO, Random Number Generator and Oracle.

We are also the first cross-chain NFT card game officially endorsed by Cardano, Fantom, Polygon and Cronos (powered by Crypto.com).
We have just announced our IDO on OccamRazer - the official launchpad of Cardano last Friday as the first NFT gaming project to do so. We are aiming for another IFO with a leading DEX - making Duelist King score as the first NFT gaming project in a number of categories šŸ˜„

Superb!
Now the final question before the community part
Q3: Let`s now talk about the milestones you have achieved so far and about your upcoming plans?

Nicole NguyenNicole Nguyen

We kickstarted everything back in February with our first technical litepaper around fair distribution algorithm.
This is also the center of our core philosophy - bringing users the excitement of opening cards in mystery boxes while making sure all distribution is totally randomized and verifiable on blockchain.
It has been a crazy ride with us ever since! By May this year we expanded to 10 members, in July we started our seed round.
August - September this year
āœ… The first airdrop for 5,000 users and donors
āœ… The first NFT offerings where 250,000 NFT cards were sold out
āœ… The first playable demo is out - you can check our teaser here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoDNydwAeUE
And finally OCTOBER is our key launch month with an IDO on OccamRazer + IFO on a leading DEX. We have scored a number of partnership globally and locally with Ludena Protocol (Korea), Tokocrypto (Indonesia), JennyDAO, DePay, Hackernoon and 20+ investors and partners.

Duelist King has raised 1 million USD from seed and strategic investors including BoostXLabs, Shima Capital, BX Ventures, Momentum6, Magnus Capital, NFT Technologies, Everse Capital (AshWSB) , Astronaut Capital, Exnetwork, AU21, X21 digital, Banter Capital, Autonomy Capital, HG Ventures, BTC League, BTA Ventures, Chronos Ventures, Blockchain Israel Association, Benmo, OIG, BlockBeat

Online card game is gaining more popularity, however, most of the existing card games are very expensive and this present an entry barrier for a newbie. Will your games be cheap and affordable for an average player or what measures have you put in place to help onboard more mainstream users?

Nicole NguyenNicole Nguyen

The same case happens with Play2Earn games at the moment as I think the entry barrier is quite high for newbies, not to mention the lack of user friendliness for traditional gamers.

We will be offering two play modes
- Standard Access where you don't have to find any cards and you can check out everything for free. Just that you won't be able to collect in-game rewards and artefacts.
- Premium Access where you need at least 22 cards to be able to play. We keep all card price at 1 USD flat and you can either play in the game, complete quests/missions/campaigns to earn in game assets or trade your cards/assets on marketplace.

We are reaching out to a variety of gaming players like Ludena Protocol - a 3 million user social gaming platform in Korea to create pre-launch activities for users like art design and trying out the games. Also the KOLs like CryptoBanter and CrytoDiffer are helping us to trial the game and share sneak peek for communities before our official launch.

We do take feedbacks from partners and communities seriously and more educational initiative/tutorial will be offered soon~

I learnt that users with positive voting power are called Electors within the DKT DAO. If I may ask, what does it mean to have a "positive voting power"? Also, how much percentage of votes FOR a proposal or AGAINST a proposal determines whether the proposal will be implemented or not?

Nicole NguyenNicole Nguyen

Positive voting power here means you are a token holder and depending on the proposal you need to have a minium token balance. To vote FOR or AGAINST a proposal you will need at least 51% of electors to vote for the result.

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

you comment that the earnings with Duelist King they will come with effort, but you can enjoy the game, this old way is profitable for your project? Has your community grown with this regulation?

Nicole NguyenNicole Nguyen

Our community is growing yes and I believe they are bullish about our business perspective.

We are doing things in an old fashioned ways - offering a chain-agnostic game that is genuinely a GAME i.e. the game does offer innate enjoyment and engagement as a game combined with blockchain-based values in terms of asset transferability, various earning model and also engagement of the community in picking and voting for their favorite game play and game design.
Our community here does not only encompass gamers but we are talking about creators, designers, collectors and also indie gaming studios who later want to leverage our platform to build a community-driven game šŸ˜„

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

Why did you choose BEP20 network to build a project like this, are you ready to face the current problems of BEP20 network, token price drop, bugs and other bugs, give feedback your?

Nicole NguyenNicole Nguyen

BEP20 is not the sole chain that we are building on. As said we have been officially endorsed by Cardano, Fantom, Polygon and Cronos - upcoming might be Solana and BSC.

I believe NFT emergence has opened up more collaboration opportunities across different projects and chains. And we see no reason of limiting ourselves to a certain chain whereas we can tap into different communities and make the most of their values.

1. Talking about the rareness level of your different NFT cards (i.e the Legendary, special, super rare, common and uncommon cards), can a user decide to sell a legendary card which he possesses at any rate he wants? Or are there mechanisms in place to restrict users from selling at very high or very low rates?

2. Are there possibilities for a user to possess more voting rights than another user? How so?

Nicole NguyenNicole Nguyen

1. We just do the distribution from our platform - you get a totally randomized design with 1 USD and it can be anything from a Common to Legendary card. Users have the right to set the price since we believe its a matter of supply and demand of the market.
2. It can happen, since voting power correlates to not only token balance but how much the person contributes to the ecosystem. We have a ranking system to make sure the ranking of community members are contingent upon their engagement in the game/the DAO.

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

Hi! @NicoleBC_VN

Duelist King aims to be the sustainable future of Win2Earn. However, how much people should invest in Duelist King before starting the game? Do you balance for Pay2Win? Can people earn in Duelist King with a small investment?

Nicole NguyenNicole Nguyen

People can invest in us in small amount yes - we do not plan to sell the tokens at a steep price. The reason is we have two key revenue streams - one is from token sale and the other is card sales.

Our token holders will be entitled to part of the card sales proceeds too and we hope the project is profitable and self-sustaining to avoid the trap of over-raising fund for our project - the product and the community support will matter to the project success much more than the investment itself!

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

Do you think every game and only when listed on Binance is called a successful game and new entrants at that time still have a chance to make money?

Nicole NguyenNicole Nguyen

Depending on how you mean by success. To us the key parameters for game extend beyond the market value movement - it should be about community engagment, in-game activities, revenue and also product reception by the market.

NFT gaming space is still a widely untapped market - I think new entrants with the right product market fit will still strive.

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

One of the Interesting feature that I saw is "CARD Personalization",
Can You tell more about it?
How will it be issued & how much?

Nicole NguyenNicole Nguyen

On average we plan to offer 12 auction-based slots for people to buy "card moulds' that they can use to input their favorite design and score packets to configure their own card. They can keep it as a collectible or use in the game.

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

How many cards do I need to have to be able to play the game?

What are the benefits of Card owners?

@NicoleBC_VN

Nicole NguyenNicole Nguyen

You'll need at least 22 cards to earn in the following ways
- Win a game to receive cards or artifacts (Win2Earn)
- Win a tournament to win stable coin and DKT
- Lend cards to other players and receive token from them
- Sell cards/artifact on marketplace
- As a token holder, you might stand a chance of joining our leaderboard club to have rewards from buying cards, holding tokens, call for and participating in community voting. The higher rank you have, the more reward you are entitled to.

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

What do you think is the future of digital collectibles and NFTs and how then does Duelist Kings plan to be at the forefront of this innovation?

Nicole NguyenNicole Nguyen

Since joining the blockchain space in 2016, I believe NFTs and collectibles are some of the few trends that will be here to stay.

NFTs are increasingly finding its use cases and utilities in a number of industries like gaming, arts and collectibles. Adding metaverse effect, the sky's the limit for NFT growth as a whole new emerging business instead of a contender to the traditional space.

There are still lots of things that need to be done on the onboarding, payment, and solution to expedite NFT adoption but I believe it's a matter of time till that becomes a reality.

Cryptodiffer CommunityCryptodiffer Community

2. What campaigns do you attract new players with, how do you balance old players with new players?

Nicole NguyenNicole Nguyen

We have free play mode for newbies to try out the game in a no strings attached way šŸ˜„

The game is designed in a way that new players can still join in the game and are not necessarily the underdogs in the game. You can earn points and in game artifacts from missions/quests and have a chance to upgrade your card from those rewards.

We also want to make sure Pay-to-Win does not dictate the balancing between old and new gamers. Our cards are distributed randomly so it doesn't mean you can buy powerful cards at your own will. All cards are sold at a flat price of 1 USD in a box of 5 cards. You still can definitely pay to buy the more powerful cards on the secondary market but you need to be more strategic with your pocket as they are not cheap at all.

Our game economics do offer more earning opportunities and incentives for people who challenge others and participate in tournaments and battles. Also any upgrading option would be reset prior to tournaments to make sure people can participate on equal ground. The only way for you to climb up the ranking ladder is to duel against people of the same ranks so make sure you play your card rights and engage in the game as much as you can!
