Jia Tian
CTO

Hi everyone, I’m the CTO of cortex.A little bio about myself:) I am an early bitcoiner since 2011. I major in distributed systems and have acquired BS/MS degree from dept. CS&T, Tsinghua University. I served as Chief Scientist in bitfundpe in China, and was an early supporter of Zerocoin upon its debut since 2013, which later became Zcash and I joined the Zcash community governance panel. I also invested in Bitfinex as a shareholder. I helped a lot of blockchain startups. I’m Venture Partner of Zhenfund in blockchain domain. I am now Chief Scientist and CTO of Cortex Labs, which focuses on a novel onchain Machine Learning framework.

Amy Chen
COO

I am the COO of Cortex Foundation

I am an entrepreneur with a master degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University. In 2012, I co-founded a solar energy company in NYC, focusing on installing, developing and consulting low carbon solutions for my customers. In 2016 I started to explore in blockchain because I think this technology can be very well integrated into renewable energy sector. Smart grid solution, carbon credit trading and distributed energy system network can all be advanced with machine learning and smart contract application. I joined Cortex Project since the beginning. I enjoy going to the beach, EDM festivals and cooking

CryptoDiffer team

What is Cortex?

Amy Chen
COO

Cortex is the first and only public blockchain capable of executing AI algorithms and AI-powered DApps on the blockchain. Cortex provides a platform for AI developers to upload their models onto the blockchain and be incorporated into smart contracts. Instead of a black box, we can run AI models on the blockchain in a decentralized, immutable, and transparent manner − proof-of-work network consensus verifies every step of the AI inference.

CryptoDiffer team

How does Cortex compare to conventional blockchains like Ethereum?

Jia Tian
CTO

Right now, conventional blockchains like Ethereum have virtual machines that run on the CPU, which cannot realistically execute AI models because AI programs are computationally expensive. To incorporate any sort of AI into an Ethereum Dapp, for example, would require running the AI models off-chain, which defeats the purpose of a smart contract.

The Cortex team addresses this problem by building a virtual machine that runs on the GPU. This allows AI models to execute directly on the blockchain, enabling true AI smart contracts. In addition, the CVM is backward-compatible with the EVM, so Ethereum developers can easily migrate their applications onto the Cortex blockchain and on top of that, incorporate AI models into them.

CryptoDiffer team

Why does Cortex aim to enable running AI models on the blockchain and how does it do that?

Jia Tian
CTO

The reasons for running AI smart contracts on the blockchain are exactly the same as those for running “traditional” smart contracts on the blockchain (because an AI program, at the execution stage, is just like a traditional program): transparency, integrity, immutability, and censorship-resistance.

All DApps can be enhanced by incorporating AI.

In gaming, an on-chain AI algorithm can serve as impartial referees (such as in the game Digital Clash, recently released on Cortex) or help make DApp game characters more life-like (such as Crypto Kitties enhanced by AI).

In DeFi, on-chain AI is needed for anti-fraud in decentralized exchanges, stablecoins, credit systems, smart investment, and decentralized lending (We can, for example, use AI to determine personalized interest rates based on the user’s credit history and this AI algorithm will be transparent to ensure fairness and prevent discrimination).

If DApp developers want to incorporate any sort of AI into their Dapps, they have no choice but to choose Cortex – we are the ONLY blockchain capable of executing AI models.

This is what happened with the DevBug team, who wanted to use AI in their game, Digital Clash. They searched around and found no blockchain capable of supporting on-chain AI other than us, even though at that time we were still in our TestNet phase. We worked very closely with them to help them navigate our development and recently helped them launch their game on our MainNet as well. Their game ended in becoming the first AI-powered DApp in history.

This is our aim to build Cortex, To make decentralized applications truly intelligent, we need to incorporate AI algorithms into them, and Cortex is the first team to make it even POSSIBLE and will be leading this effort for years to come!

Cryptodiffer Community

Can you tell me 3 strengths you think that Cortex can beat Aergo in vote of Round 3 of Binance Community Coin?

Cortex Team

Cortex is making innovation for better money, while AERGO’s hybrid consensus is no new thing if you remember DECRED. And voting for Cortex is more profitable if you do the math. Many new things could be possible with CORTEX’s technology.

Cryptodiffer Community

How do you plan on attracting developers  to Cortex since most of developers aren’t easy to move to another one?

What are some features that you provide for developers?

Cortex Team

We have a systematic approach that integrates improving the developmental environment, maintaining user & developer community, and developing Cortex wallets on various platforms. Above all Cortex prioritizes enhancing the development environment, seeking to create a suite of tools analogous to the development ecological layout of XCode/Android Studio for IOS/Android.

As of right now, there exists rarely any public chain with a similar level of developer-friendliness as Ethereum, and we strive to change this by focusing on two general directions.

First, we guarantee a high degree of compatibility with Ethereum. We allow Ethereum developers to migrate their existing Ethereum Dapp to Cortex at almost zero cost and enhance their Dapps by incorporating AI features. This will drastically lower the cost of learning – developers familiar with Ethereum can start developing on Cortex with very little additional learning.

Second, we will highlight Cortex’s new unique computing environment that activates the AI features for Dapps, something remains to be seen by developers and companies. For the first time, developers will be able to create true AI Dapps such as The Master of Digital Clash by inferring models on the chain.

Cryptodiffer Community

Cortex is a specialized platform whose main idea is machine learning and the use of AI in programming. Do not you think that this factor somewhat limits the potential of the project and makes it dependent on developers and ideas that will be implemented using this platform?

Jia Tian
CTO

In my history of mining, I’ve seen a lot of specialized projects trying to make blockchain useful in real world applications. I think blockchain itself is most important. This idea finally leads to Cortex, a project that use AI to enhance blockchain and e-money, while helping AI community at the same time.

Cryptodiffer Community

I like the way you answer questions for this AMA, it’s full meaning and carefully. I also feel your spirit, so how will you spread this power to community for voting in coming days?

I will definitely vote for CORTEX

Amy Chen
COO

We are doing as many AMAs online with the community in many language as possible, we also spread our words in local meetups with our local community partners! you can look at CTXC price this week we are performing very well and better than our competititors! we are confident to win the voting, and thanks for your support

Cryptodiffer Community

EXPLAIN MORE ABOUT YOUR CORTEX VIRTUAL MACHINE and how it differs from other VIRTUAL MACHINES AND EVM?

Please explain more about your CONSENSUS ALGORITHM, HOW AND WHY WAS IT CHOSEN AND WHAT ADVANTAGES DOES THIS ADD TO THE CORTEX ECOSYSTEM

Cortex Team

Cortex Virtual Machine adds support for AI model inference, which is not achievable on EVM. This creates the foundation for Cortex.

We have chosen Cuckoo Cycle as our PoW algorithm, as it is anti-ASIC. We want mining on Cortex be a fair game for every CTXC miner.

Cryptodiffer Community

As a result of the vast diversity of AI applications and the heterogeneity in their goals and requirements, many devices and techniques will exist, and interoperability is crucial. What is your approach to solve this problem? Can Cortex provide a flexible solution in this regard?

Ziqi Chen
CEO

Yes, that’s one of the contribution we made. To let multiple kinds of devices to reach consensus on AI inference.

Cryptodiffer Community

How does Cortex compare to conventional blockchains like Ethereum etc.?

Ziqi Chen
CEO

It is backward compatible with ETH smart contracts and meanwhile to power on the AI computing on the virtual machine.

Cryptodiffer Community

Well, i checking the website of Cortex and trying to Find Roadmap of Cortex But i was unable to find roadmap ! Can you tell that How Cortex Roadmap looks like of next 2-3 Years ? Whats the next main goal of Cortex project ?

As i see on website , In Cortex Utility Zone, Cortex Provides Cloud Services and hardwares ! So, can you explain some info about Cloud services ? Can we do Profitable Cloud mining by Cortex Cloud service ? as well as Is there any additional maintainance charges on Cortex Cloud services ?

Amy Chen
COO

We will build with the community developer more Dapps, and AI modles on-chain, enrich MRT functions, and enhance security. We dont do cloud mining, the utility zone is just a place for people to buy papular GPUs with CTXC tokens thakbs

Cryptodiffer Community

What makes Cortex technology unique and efficient, and how does your company profit from this technology?

You recently launched the decentralized AI app called Digital Clash. What is the uniqueness of this game?

Jia Tian
CTO

Cortex is a public project and a community project. The main team of cortex do need to profit, but from traditional manners. Future business model for the team is to build the model zoo and get endorphins from model infering. There are other ways to make it sustainable, too. Digital Clash is a community project, not owned by Cortex Foundation. This game is the first use case of what AI models can do in a smart contract. Kudos to the game dev team!

Cryptodiffer Community

While there are many best community that allow voting.

Why did the CORTEX choose the Binance exchange for the coin community to vote?

Amy Chen
COO

Because Binance has a very strong community and have the most trading e believe doing community voting on Binance and doing AMAs with the community can expand our exposure, to let more people about us. thanks

Cryptodiffer Community

The key group that is still very young will make it successful?

cashew projects with smart contracts. How is cortex different?

Jia Tian
CTO

In a way… I think we are not young comparing to the talented 20s. Cortex makes e-money smarter without losing generality, which is not the case with other projects.

Cryptodiffer Community

Why did Cortex choose Cuckoo Cycle and PoW? what’s advantages ?

Cortex Team

Anti-ASIC. As for Bitcoin mining, the existence of ASIC chips makes it very hard for normal people to join in. To achieve one-machine-one-vote, we have chosen Cuckoo Cycle as the PoW algorithm, which makes mining a fair game for everyone.

Cryptodiffer Community

What is the leading Utility of  Cortex token? And what is tokenomics of it? What do you think about future of Cortex and what will be next for Cortex?

Amy Chen
COO

Cortex utility is like gas in Ethereum , people uses CTXC to run AI- smart contract on Cortex Blockchain, and AI model providers get paid i CTXC too everytime their models get used. In the future, you can see lots of AI-powered Dapps in De-Fi, gaming and more. thanks

Cryptodiffer Community

Community is an essential for everything, including the binance voting where the community votes for you, can you tell us how do you feel about your community and how are you planning on expanding it?

Amy Chen
COO

We have a strong community from all the meetups, conferences and online evets we had done in the past, we will continue to grow our community by raodshows, tech/community meetups in the locals around the world and partner up with other communities like CryptoDiffer to share our news and technology

Cryptodiffer Community

Are cortex products available in practical use, are they expected to expand to the national market?

Ziqi Chen
CEO

you will soon see cortex dapps that deliver unique features

Cryptodiffer Community

While there are many best community that allow voting.

Why did the CORTEX choose the Binance exchange for the coin community to vote?

Cortex Team

We are already on many exchanges and Binance is a logical step to adopt to wider range of great communities and support

Cryptodiffer Community

How does Cuckoo Cycle work? Cuckoo is Proof of Work algorithm, what advantages does Cuckoo Cycle have over other ALGORITHMS? WHY CUCKOO and how will you build on Cuckoo

As a developer, I know SOLIDITY, can I build dApps on CORTEX AND What’s the modalities involved in building dapps on CORTEX

Cortex Team

Yes you can build DApps on Cortex pretty much the same way as you do on Ethereum. Cortex’s smart contracts are also written in Solidity, but with extra built in functions for AI inferences.

Cryptodiffer Community

How cortex virtual machine works. How is it different from other projects frameworks?

Cortex Team

The key technology of the Cortex blockchain is the Cortex Virtual Machine (CVM); the CVM is ported from the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and backward-compatible with EVM with added layers for AI inference: infer instructions and deterministic inference engine. Infer instructions allows models to be called in smart contracts through instruction sets. The deterministic inference engine, called Synapse, guarantees exactly the same result of an AI model in different computing environments and thereby making network consensus on AI program executions possible.

Cryptodiffer Community

I joined AMA’s in other telegram groups.  Your team conducted these events much better than Aergo.  I think you will win.

You will have a couple of questions.  In order to vote for you, I need to find answers to my questions.

Q1:What are the differences that distinguish you from your competitors?

Q2:Can Cortex be used only for the cyber machines? Can it be used for real machines too?

Q3:Is your project compatible endustry 4.0?

Q4:Can Cortex be used for learning internet of Object based machines?

Q4:Plase tell me about five reason for voting Cortex?

I hope Cortex would be winner side 😉

Jia Tian
CTO

Q1. On-chain AI. Cortex smart contracts cannot be carried out on other chains because of the specialized instruction set for AI.

Q2. LOL. Cortex can be run on any general computing machines. If taken out separately, CVM can be scaled to a extent that many large applications will be possible.

Q3. Of course. Edge devices need quantization and model compression, as well as blockchain. We had internal discussions and plans for this.

Q4. I assume you mean knowledge graph. There are models for feature extraction and entity detection, but currently we do not expand there yet.

Q5. All of the above, right?

Cryptodiffer Community

The key group that is still very young will make it successful?

cashew projects with smart contracts. How is cortex different?

Ziqi Chen
CEO

Unique features of AI inference within smart contract. We are young and energetic team and keep moving fast to deliver promise.

Cryptodiffer Community

How do you plan on attracting developers  to Cortex since most of developers aren’t easy to move to another one?

What are some features that you provide for developers?

Amy Chen
COO

We plan to give tutorial as a starter, then also place dev meetup. We are the first and ONLY chain that allows smart contrat to have machine learning functions, developer will eventually come adoption because we are the only choice for now

Cryptodiffer Community

Hi Cortex team

First, i want to thanks to the team and congrats all for the project and the efforts made until here on this project. I believe a lot in this project.

For me, the best project on the space.

I had my own research about blockchain projects and i found Cortex this year (i’m new on the space, about 10 months). After doing my research i have no doubt that Cortex its one of the best, if not the best project i had found in the space. So, i’m very glad to participate in this AMA.

My question is:

We know that technology never stop to grow. New technologies surges all the time and we faces a lot of challenges. Quantum Computing is one of the new technologies that has been growing and innovating. How it will affect the blockchain and what challenges this could bring for Cortex?

Thanks

Jia Tian
CTO

Quantum computing will be a threat when it gets to ~2000 logical qubits, which is ~100000 logical qubits. It is not anywhere near there yet. We are actively looking out for the PQC domain and in fact technology has been going through a major stagnation for years since the internet. It is a major problem for tech investors and everyone. I hope quantum computers develop faster and we can see more interesting things.

Cryptodiffer Community

What about Chinese regulations, does that effect the way companies  to use the platform? If a company is based in a regulated country, can they still use the platform ?

Amy Chen
COO

yes, we are an open-source, decentroalized  platform, meaning to build together with the community. CTXC is a utility token just like ETH so regulation does not affect us

Cryptodiffer Community

Q.  As an investor and early adopter, I find it difficult to access/value a project in the short term and require longer periods of time to fully understand, recognise and value it. So, to help my understanding, can you tell me what plans are set in motion to add value to Cortex?

Jia Tian
CTO

as satoshi has said, adoption is the key. community growth is our main goal. it is the most important factor for a coin to be held and transacted. making it smarter will boost this process when data is large on blockchain.

Cryptodiffer Community

A project maybe won’t survive long term with CRYPTO to CRYPTO company partnerships. It needs services that sells against FIAT. Will Cortex offer such services that will make customers avail it directly using FIAT?

Ziqi Chen
CEO

Exactly. We are working on multiple dapps that’s unique to traditional users. They can’t buy the service from centralized internet company. Make fiat cashflow into our crypto is one of our major marketing goal.

Cryptodiffer Community

You can talk more about the highlights of the hierarchy by using Cortex technology. Also in the future, what is the level of decentralization and economic incentive of COrtex?

Jia Tian
CTO

It will be following the same path of bitcoin and ethereum 1.0. Current cortex is only a beginning. We want to weave AI into the very fabrics of blockchain and smart contract.

Cryptodiffer Community

Why AI + Blockchain Make will be differrent and sense ?

CAN YOU TALK a little about  ” AI on Blockchain Use CasesS ” ?

Amy Chen
COO

because AI and blockchain technology both will gradually penetrate our lives just like the internet have done, than our platform will be the playground for potential applications in De-Fi, gaming and ads recommender systems ect.

Cryptodiffer Community

What are the benefits of combining two pioneering technologies between blockchain and AI and how they can help each other overcome some of their explicit limitations?

Cortex Team

Centralized AI has few limitations, which can be overcome by the features of blockchain – transparent and immutable. AI also adds in more possibilities to blockchain.

Cryptodiffer Community

Please explain the difference between cortex and ordinary smart contracts? And the advantages of Cortex over ordinary smart contracts

How does the advent of 5G NETWORK SUPPORT THE CORTEX PROJECT AND HOW DOES YOU LEVERAGE ON 5G NETWORK TO ACHIEVE MORE SUCCESS

The Cortex Virtual Machine (CVM), is ported from the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) with added function for AI inference, and it is backward-compatible with EVM and capable of running both traditional smart contracts and AI smart contracts.

First, executing machine learning models is computationally expensive on a CPU, but all blockchain projects out here right now runs on the CPU. That’s why we built our own virtual machine, make it executable on GPUS, and this allows the ML models to execute efficiently and cost-effectively on-chain.

The deterministic inference engine is where quantization is applied. machine learning inference has non-deterministic behaviors. This means that when you run the same ML model across different devices, each device will get a slightly different result (due to different floating-point approximation). You can see how this is problematic if you’re trying to have decentralized consensus on the blockchain. That’s why we designed a quantization scheme; we rewrite all the operations using the fixed-point number calculation, such as Max Pooling, Convolution, Matrix Multiply, and other non-linear functions, this is what we called a model-based fixed-point execution framework and a corresponding deterministic machine learning operator library. It guarantees the consistency of AI inference results in heterogeneous computing environments, without significantly compromising performance or accuracy.

We use Cuckoo Cycle for PoW to avoid ASIC miner monopoly

Amy Chen
COO

you can include trained- ready to used machinese learning models in the smart contract to make your Dapp more functionable. 5G network so far we havent discovered much yet.

Cryptodiffer Community

Why did Cortex choose Cuckoo Cycle and PoW? what’s advantages ?

Jia Tian
CTO

PoW has proven its security during the mining years since 2009. PoS is basing trust upon people and instutions, whose behavior is well studied in public research domain. PoW has the potential to go beyond that by being trustworthy by nature.

Jia Tian
CTO

That will be all. thanks for being with us! Thanks in advance for voting for us!

Amy Chen
COO

I thnk we got a lot of great questions from this secret chat!! thanks again for joining us,
